Skittles touch campaign

The Wrigley Company's Skittles  have come up with a new way to interact with their consumers.  They have came up with a touch campaign that is featured on youtube, it consist of a series of "commercials" where they ask you to put your finger on the screen, and the different people or ojects in the video will interact with you - the consumer.
I feel that this campaign is a little off base, which basically flows with the rest of the creative that they come up with  for their campaigns.  Some of these touch "commercials" are so out there they were banned like this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBHT7mcmsRQ&feature=related

Some of them are kinda cute - even though they are truely weird like this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnwEntgHyFI

And some - just plain stupid...like this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxcaMCgdkZ8
There are many more to choose from if you log onto youtube.com and type in skittles touch.
At first I thought this was a fake moking campaign but in the disclaimer it says thay are affilitated with the Wrigley company.

Lemme know what you think - and which one, if any is your favorite

Interactive digital billbaords and transit shelters

Marketers are looking for ways to catch your attention, and it seems like everyday it seems like they are coming up with more new and exciting ways to get the attention of their target markets.  While researching for this blog I have come across many interesting and fun billboard and transit shelter examples that make me wish that Windsor was a lot more fun and that sometimes if they had advertising such as these - that I had to take the bus more often.  these interactive transit shelters is a great way to pass the time while waiting for a bus or subway - or just to hide out from the rain, wind, or snow on a walk to or from somewhere.
There are a couple of graffiti transit shelters that actually allow you to put grafetti on them, having this around here would keep some of those "grafetti artists" out of trouble by letting them get their artistic creativity out on something that is highly legal and encouraged to do!
Here are some of my favorite examples:  this first one allows you to write on the cast (brings you back to the days when it seemed all your friends or yourself was such a klutz, seemed like you were always signing someones cast)
this one for Johnson and Johnson self tanner allows you to visualize how dark you would like your tan to be - then you can pick the right shade for you,
this one is a game that you can play to pass the time while waiting for a bus - sponsored by yahoo

Pepsi goes Interactive

BBDO Advertising agency came up with a brilliant interactive advertising for an account with Pepsi  that they put up in subways in Vancouver and Toronto.  This subway ad had a fully funcional head phone jack built right into it, so that you can listen to samples of the feature songs from pepsiaccess.ca which was a campaign in which you found pins on Pepsi products which were redeemable for access to music, concerts and events.  It think that this is a great idea for many different reasons... one it gives you something to do on your subway ride, while reaching a huge audience frequently for Pepsi, and people enjoy music, and especially new music so its would be fun to plug your headphones into a poster on a subway, and on those hot summer days while riding in a hot subway, when you get off the first thing your going to want to do is buy a nice refreshing Pepsi to cool yourself down!
let me know what you think (after you grab yourself a Pepsi!)

Gesture technology

Gesture Technology is award winning gesture control techonology for interactive surfaces and  is brought to you by the extremely creative mind of Phosphorus Media INC. founded by Jonathan Ingham They use interactive technology to engage audiences.
Phosphorus Media is in the business of: gesture recognition technology, image projection, multi-touch technology, 3D holographic imaging, mobile applications, directional sound and a think tank for new media technologies.
He uses his patented GesturTek which has technology to project images onto the floors and walls, which allows passer-byers to be a part of the ad and control it by their movements, such as turning a page and moving objects around, but they do not require actual contact.  It think that technology is bringing to life things we only thought could come alive in our wildest dreams, for the creative mind - this goes to show that they sky is the limit, and I am very excited and anxious to be in this particular field and can not wait to see what the future holds for interactive advertising.

A couple good examples that I have found of this include:

Ikea interactive wall ad:

Adidas interactive floor campaign:

Interactive floor campaign for Harley Davidson:

I feel like I could go on about this amazingly brilliant technology for ever so I'm going to stop here and leave you with the link to their website, and maybe you can leave me a couple links to your favorite interactive sites, and let me know what you think, and if you are even remotely as excited about this as I am!

Coke Zero Chill Banners

I happened to stumble up this campaign that made me kinda giggle, as I thought of all those student sitting in class surfing the web instead of listening to the teacher, or those who are supposed to be hard at work instead of checking the latest game scores.
Coke has came up with a banner across some of the popular sites that people visit (on and off their own time).  It looks just like a regular leader board ad, but when clicked on turns into a spread sheet of numbers, sure to fool even the smarted by passer as long as they don't have the intentions of checking your work!
Take a look and let me know what you think

Geurilla Adverting

Recently while sifting threw Face Book I came across a great example of Geurilla Advertising.  For those of you who do not know what Geurilla Advertising or marketing is he is a quick defination for you from the good people of wikipedia!  " guerrilla marketing was invented as an unconventional system of promotions that relies on time, energy and imagination rather than a big marketing budget. Typically, guerrilla marketing campaigns are unexpected and unconventional, potentially interactive, and consumers are targeted in unexpected places. The objective of guerrilla marketing is to create a unique, engaging and thought-provoking concept to generate buzz, and consequently turn viral "  In this case it was totally interactive, and went viral; the outcome was definitely a crowd pleaser (especially for the ladies).  If there was ever a way to get a bunch of ladies off the street do some exercise rapidly enough that they have no choice but to reach for your brand of  bottled and  readily available water this is the way to go!  I give the people at Contrex Water a huge thumbs up - very entertaining.

Social Media Jungle!!

You have seen it a million times while surfing the web, some find it quite intrusive, or annoying, some people get just plain down right mad while trying to read an article and it all the sudden dissapears because of a silly little thing called a pop up.  Now don't get me wrong some people might actually like pop ups and find them exciting and funny, they may get excited to know that they are the chosen winner with in their area.
The web has changed a lot, I have found that with social media being so main stream I don't run across as many pop ups anymore, instead advertisers are now being smart and advertising where most people spend most of their time - sites like Facebook and Twitter.  These little advertisements are tiny and non intrusive, so you really don't mind them, unless they catch your eye for something, other wise you may just ignore them altogether.
Last time we talked about sync ads, which is another clever way to advertise, we also have page take overs - where the ad takes up most of the page behind and all around the content of the page an example of this would be....

http://origin.demo.eyeblaster.com/DEUTSCHLAND/msn_creativezone/de/url/1108_hpto_gillette/

This ad is another example of a sync ad, as well as a page take over, if you notice it has the Gilette feel to the whole page while the content has nothing to do with Gillette or even shaving for that matter.

If you have some good examples of pop ups or page take overs please feel free to share them with me

the genius of BUD!!

Lets talk beer commercials - some of the most witty of the advertising world, maybe mostly due to the fact that its beer, its fun so lets have fun with our commercials.
Budweiser had some pretty fun campaigns that resonate with consumers even to this day you can still hear the mocking chatter of boys screaming Whassup!! while sticking their tongues out as far as they possible could and shaking their heads.  This campaign started in 1999 by the genius at DDP.  "Whassup!" won Cannes Grand Prix  award and the Grand Clio award, among others. In May 2006, the campaign was inducted into the CLIO Hall of Fame.   If you go to Youtube.com and type in this commercial you will be sure to find the original commercials and many variations and spoofs of it.
Another great commercial for Budwieser is the famous Bud frogs while they sit there on their lilly pads croaking BUD WISE ER!!! youtube it for a good laugh!  check out all the Bud commercials while your at it

Super Bowl commercials

So Ive been sitting here today thinking about some of my favorite all time commercials, which lead me to start thinking about the famous Super Bowl Commercials, and how people wait all year to see which brands are going to out do themselves with the commercial of the year!  I think that Super Bowl might just be the only program run on T.V that every single commercial is watched and the channel is not changed once, so with that in mind lets take a look at some of the best of the best Super Bowl commercials.

Magical little things called Sync Ads

Of all my favorite types of Ads there are in this world - I am totally amazed with Sync Ads.  I just love the way you can have two different size ads on one page that totally interact together I think that this is genious!!  For those of you who are saying to yourself "what the heck is a Sync Ad?" let me fill you in!  There are so many different shapes and sizes you can use for your Sync Ad but it must consist of two....for example you can have a leader board and a skyscraper, a leader board and a big box, i think you catch my drift and if you find yourself once again wondering what I'm talking about - Google it!!
MediaMind.com is a great website to check out all sorts of different Ads once your on there click on Creative Zone and you can preview some of the top ads in the world.  One of the ads discussed in my class was this sync ad by Vimeo - I think that it is well done and the music in the ad is so catchy
http://www.mediamind.com/creative_zone/Vimto/index.html
Another example of a well done Sync Ad is:

I think you get my drift, but if not leave a comment and I will better explain it to ya!

Old Sprice Sea Captain Commercial

I have been a big fan of the new old spice commercials, I think that they are witty, unique, and absolutly funny.  However the new Old Spice Sea Captain commercial is not one for me.  I think that it makes absolutly no sense, as the rest also are very far fetched, this one though makes me want to switch the channel, and I am and always have been a commercial lover - so long as  they can keep my attention.
Check it out for yourself and let me know your thoughts on it, while your at it - check out all the commercials in the new Old Spice campaign, and see how this one feels as though they are running out of good ideas, and just running with anything.  Please pick up the slack guys!!!
